Being an electrically oriented couple (Timothy is an electrical engineer and Elaine is a licensed electrician) we had considered building an electric vehicle, but decided it would be easier to buy one already built! Built in North Dakota, it is an efficient vehicle for running around town. Its 30 mile range is perfect for Palestine, and its top speed of 25 mph works well with the roads here.
We use ours to go the bank, the Post Office, UPS store, Braly's, Lowe's, restaurants, the grocery store, Wal-Mart, city hall, the courthouse, everywhere but the gas station!
At 30 miles average for a full charge, it gets the economic equivalent of about 1¢ per mile (at $3.40 per gallon, that's 340 miles!). The energy it uses is from domestic, efficient energy sources. And of course the emissions from the car itself are zero!
